Mercy Njue

RHS was founded as a home school in 2002 in Nairobi, Kenya. It relocated to its present location in Kitengela in 2012.

Reflecting on our RHS history, I have concluded two things: that greatness comes from the desire to do extraordinary things and that my strength indeed comes from the Lord.

I listen to my pupils with great admiration and enchantment. When our play-school opened in Kitengela nine years ago, kneading dough with little fingers to make bite-sized mandazi was the highlight of the week. Today, these children are confidently teaching me why a line of code is ambiguous or giving credence to the global warming debate. Their zeal for the Word of God puts my youthful years to shame.

Through every lesson, play, poem, song, dance, artwork and prayer, I see the small, frantic beginnings turn into great things. Those late night hours planning lessons are bearing fruit. My desire to have children from ordinary Kenyan homes experience the vivacity of the British curriculum is paying off. We are reaping what we have sown and I am falling in love with RHS all over again!
